February 20, 2010

Up about 7 am and weight at 132 lbs. Went to the hospital and got our H1N1 (or something) flu shots...decided we should have them if we are traveling. Barbara has already had her's.

After breakfast....egg & toast....we headed to Newport Beach for a morning with Barbara and John. John is "dry" right now as it is Lent...he won't drink until St. Patrick's Day. He and Jim had a good visit while I worked with Barbara. We settled on Mary's birthday gift....her ring...and talked about the trip. The phone rang and a neighbor told her that one of her banks, where she has lots of money...closed...well not quite...was taken over by another bank negotiated by the FDIC.... a shocker but I think she will be okay.

Home about 1 pm...no...not doing the gym today. Stopped at Stein Mart on the way home...I found 2 possible dresses and bought both until I decide. I had a coupon for 20% off any two items so have 60 days to decide. Similar styles...one is lavender and the other beige. Jim found a cordory jacket that was a red dot item that qualified for a 40% discount. So we did good.

Lunch: tuna salad....sandwich for Jim and I ate mine without the bread. Then so nuts before I headed out to the post office. Shipped Mary's ring and postage for her announcements as a gift from us for her 40th birthday. The dress & other rings arrived safely in the mail today from Mary...now I need to return them to Barbara on Monday or Tuesday...I'll go down depending on how she needs me with the oral surgery. She is having 3 teeth pulled... when we return they will put in implants in each of them. She has a very valuable mouth...she's well over 50 thousand dollars so far....

Then I went to the mall and shopped at the Party Supply for invitations, etc. for the bridal shower than Jenn and Wendy are doing on March 21st for Mary. I told Jenn I'd help her get the invitations out before I leave. She's doing an Evit and also mailing....seems to be the "in" thing to do these days. I've never done an Evit...so looking forward to learning how to do that.

Right now we're watching the new DVD of West Wing episodes that arrived in the mail today. The first one actually had 4 episodes on each side for a total of 8....this one only has 1 side to it so we should finish sooner.
