February 10, 2010

Today Rudy is 21 years old...hardly seems possible that they've been in our lives so many years. Laura was pj with Rudy when Jim and Joe got back together.

Up at 7 am...weight at 132 lbs. Breakfast was an instant oatmeal packet and coffee. Going to the gym at 9 am.

Last night we ordered new blinds for the living room and 1 for the kitchen...all were broken and/or torn. $1200. for the 4 of them....can't believe how expensive they've become. And, that was after a 30% discount....he is a neighbor and good friend of Russ. He is a very interesting young man...Russell's age...was very involved in politics when younger. His wife also worked for a congressman...Chris Cox in Newport Beach...and that is how they met. At one time he was the driver for all the big political people when they were in California. He was asked to drive at Bush's inauguration in D. C. but wanted to see the festivities...yes, they were on the platform with the president and invited to several balls. Fun listening to his stories. Now he's trying to keep his Blind business alive in this economy.

Yes...yesterday was a tough decision but glad I made it. This kid has been trouble from the time he became a teenager and has a chip on his shoulder along with a smart remark for everything. Too quick on his feet with his mouth for his own good. Like our Bill, it's cost his several jobs...Sam always says that it was the economy....but we've heard differently. Very bright but small built and mixed race...1/4 Japanese....his grandmother on his father's side was Japanese.
Thank goodness Wendy's kids are so well mannered....that goes a long way. And, Keith is responsible for that....he really makes them toe the line. We had our problems with Brian but he has finally grown up...he is on a panel for "Sustainable Practices" representing the SSA Environmental Advocacy Committee at the Graduate Student's Program at Cal State University next week. We're going to go to the program. He is just about finished with his Master's Degree. Then the next day we go to Long Beach State Univ. to watch Alyssa perform.

Saturday, Jenny, Wendy and I are attending the meeting at the church for "Brides" to learn all about the requirements for the wedding. Then we're going to try on the dresses and make some decisions. Saturday night is a Valentine's Day Party for our street at the house next door. They are having music, food, dancing...should be fun. Hope the weather is good.

Sunday we're thinking about driving into L.A. for the Travel Show. Always enjoy strolling the aisles. Also, Rick Steves is speaking. Not positive that we're doing that.

Glad to see that Miss Mary has undated her blog...I've missed seeing what she is doing. Hope she posts some of her modeling outfits on the blogspot.

7:30 pm....washed my hair and worked on our packing list...always changing it to take less and less. Did a round robin trip to drop a book at Wendy's after returning the DVD. Then took my old computer...without the hard drive...and a Palm Pilot that I smashed up with a hammer...had taken the data off but still not comfortable so I took the hammer to it. Dropped them both off at the trash place for that type of trash.

Then stopped at Home Depot, Costco, and Staples for various items before heading home.

At home I ate 2 cheese sticks, a hard boiled egg and 2 slices of bacon.

Later a snack of nuts and finally for dinner...a slice of very dark bread and cleaned out the peanut butter jar...probably 3 tablespoons in there....

Had a long talk with Mary this afternoon about her medical checkup.
