December 25, 2009

Good morning world...up by myself at 6:30 am...took computer to the kitchen and called Florida...talked for a minute with Betty who spent the night at Mary's. They are waiting for brother Joe to arrive and all will enjoy Christmas dinner at the clubhouse. Shirley only took two days to get back to Indiana so she is enjoying Christmas there.

Weight this morning was 131 lbs. No bad considering what I ate yesterday. But, we all enjoyed ourselves. 19 at church...Alyssa sang...and 25 at the house. Jim's ham was great and the pizza's disappeared almost instantly....5 medium and 1 large veg ... guess I'd better get more next year. Wendy brought potato salad and deviled eggs...Laura brought lots of cookies. A good time was had by all.

I received two sets of new sheets for my bed....requested...and a Kinder (Sony reader) for both of us to use when we travel. Also a beautiful photo of Matt at graduation receiving a special award and a wedding photo of Jason and Nicole. Jim got his luggage, a sausage box, and there is a nail gift card and some movie passes. Some of that was birthday gifts from Wendy.

It's 7:45 am and everyone is still asleep. Another beautiful day in southern California. Last night was so nice the boys spent most of the evening on the patio. We had some excitement when the police arrested someone on the street. Lots of people out walking late to see the lights. Riley played all evening with the Santa gel stickers on the patio door. We had each of the older kids bring him a tiny toy gift to open individually. Then we did the 4 from junior & senior high...then the 5 from college and then the old married...opps...ones. Finally Jim and I opened our gifts.

Tushar and Mary called his folks after everyone left. the computer was not working in India so they didn't get to Skype. Jay called during the party and we all took turns talking with him. Jim had to tow Ellen from Via Fonte home when her boat broke down ... cord around the prop we think. Lots of things happening. Tushar said the humidifier helps in the bedroom...but his left eye really gives him problems. The right one is fine. Also yesterday we saw the movie: Up In the Air...George Clooney....really great...R rated but really great! Stay for the song near the end of the credits.

Last night...about 4:30 pm...we were getting ready for church and Tushar got locked in the hall bathroom....he'd just gotten out of the shower...we tried taking the door handle off but Jim finally got it open by using a credit card to slide in...the spring was broken on the latch and you could not open it from either side....taped the lock open so it didn't happen again until we can fix it today...Jim has lots of extra handles from neighbors who have replaced them so he should be able to fix it today.

Bill & 3 boys are due before noon and then we're going to 12 o'clock mass. Jim is fixing a turkey dinner for all of us today and then they are staying overnight.

8:15 pm....what a day. Bill and all 3 boys arrived at 11:45 and we all went to noon Mass. Church was packed....I wasn't expecting such a crowd. Mary and Tushar had fixed us breakfast about 9 am so we were good till 3 pm when dinner was planned. Jim stayed home from church to work on his turkey.

Mary and Jim did all the cooking....we set the table with all the good china, etc....for 8 of us. A sit down dinner of turkey and all the fixings. I've had horrible gas from the delicious green vegetables that I loved eating. Mary put a cherry pie in the oven that was ready after they all walked while I cleaned the kitchen...along with two kinds of ice cream....can't think about the scales in the morning.

The kids are all at the movies....they went to see Avatar in 3D....Jim and I went for a walk and then basically collapsed....I'm getting too old for all of this. I've put a bed for Chris in the attic with Mary...and made beds in the den for Bill, Mike & John...one on the couch and 2 on the blow up bed on the floor.

Tushar's parents called this morning while they were on the computer so they had fun talking with them and showing them the living room on the computer.
