Saturday 11 August 2012

Woke at 6 am...up by 6:30...fed the dogs & cat so Jay could sleep longer.  Jim got up about 7 am...and we've both been sitting here on our computers together as the house sleeps on.

Yesterday we walked over to the church and back along the walking trail and then it was so hot we drove to Best Buy instead of walking.  I looked at the Smart Phones and IPads....so hard to  bit the bullet and make a decision.  If we got the Smart Phones with Sprint our monthly charge would double to just under $150 a month by the time they add in taxes, etc.

While I was there I did purchase a charger for our cell phones so no need to turn them off to preserve power.  If we make the change we'll both get one so that we can learn together.

Friday night Bocci Ball League was fun.  They are in a league that meets in the local park...two permanent courts are there. (Lots of Italians settled in this area.)   So there were two games going at once.  They each played three games.  During the games a picnic of sorts was going on.  Each team has a picnic bench at the end of their court.  Jay made the main dish this week...Chicken Paparazzo or something like that.  Chicken breast, ragu sauce, cheese...really good....plus a side dish of pasta.  Others brought bowls of fresh fruit, dips, etc.  Really fun.  They rotate bringing the main dish and Holly had volunteered Jay this week.  AND...their team won all three games...first time that has happened!  Also...Jay was exceptional...played the best ever.  Their team decided we should come every week as their good luck charm!!

Weather her is very warm but very dry...at night it cools off and we open the windows.  All in all it's a very pleasant place to live.  Nice not having to go into the city and splitting time between two kids.

The wedding is tonight at 5 pm...in Oakland near Berkeley.  Actually part of it is at the hotel that Jay and Holly had their reception.   So we'll probably head that way just after 3 pm.  This morning the plan is to walk to the Pleasant Hill Center for their weekly Market.

Tom arrives home tomorrow ... he is at Tahoe with a friend's family this week so it's just Lily.  She has long hair now and is getting quite tall....Tom has long legs and Lily has the long torso....when they sit I understand they are the same height.
