Wednesday 25 July 2012

Good news this morning..weight at 130 lbs.   We must have been good in Big Bear...Carolyn had brought fresh tomatoes, eggs, melon and yogurt with her plus 2 bottles of wine.

I had a banana for breakfast and Carolyn arrived at 10 pm...Jim and I did our 2 mile walk about 8 am.

We brought all of the new paintings into the house and then set about doing the yard after we arrived at noon on Monday.  She pushed the lawn mower and I did the weed wacker.  Before we knew it we were finished and Carolyn was exhausted....

Into the house we ate our late lunch about 2 pm:  yogurt and a large glass of white wine!  Some television...oops....they have finally switched us to the first 22 channels...so we had the major networks and that was about it as the others were in Spanish.  Then we turned on the computer and I showed her the photos of the Rummage Sale and then she showed me some of her searches for a new rental.

About 4 pm we started putting all of the different paintings up.  They all look good...will send you photos.  Then about 5 we went for a 45 minute walk before cleaning up a bit and heading into town.  We decided to go to Denny's for dinner.  I ate:  chicken salad, 1 bread and 1 small side order of cheese mashed potatoes.

On the way home we drove past the Zip Line shop and decided to sign up for tomorrow.  We went online as soon as we got home and each signed up...$99/each.  Wanted the 10 am tour but it was full so we took the 1 pm slot.

Watched some TV and had our 2nd glass of wine...finished the bottle.

Tuesday morning breakfast:  coffee, scrambled eggs, melon and fresh tomato

Walked 2 miles then started the laundry after showers.   Dusted the house and remade the beds together.  About 11:30 we boiled the last two eggs and ate them...I had 1/4 of a tomato and then an individual box of dry cereal.

At noon we headed into town and arrived at our tour shop on time...about 12:30 pm...for the safety film before heading out.  They drove all 18 of us in two vans up the road (the way we go home) to the top of the first hill (8,350 ft...Onyx Peak) and then a short down until we reach that rock where we saw the rock climbers when you were with us years ago.  There we transferred to Swiss Army open trucks for another couple of miles of dirt roads until we reached the site.

There were 9 separate runs of various lengths....longest was nearly 900 feet....the first one had a ramp that we ran down and were suddenly in air...the rest we had to step off of the platform into empty space before the cable caught us as we sped across the space at a very fast speed.  On most of them the only break was our hand with a glove...they had doubled the leather on the palm.  It really got the heart pumping!  And the legs shaking !  In between we were teathered on top of platforms as others were doing their rides.
Would I do it again....Yes....

After we finished at about 4 pm...we went to Sizzler for dinner:  I had lemon chicken with brocilli...and then we headed back to the house to pick up some things, fold the towels and then shut down the cabin.  On the road by 6 pm we arrived in Yorba Linda at 8 pm.  Bad thing was we drove home all the way looking into the sun...always hate that.

When we arrived home Jim had washed Carolyn's car and even polished out some paint on her bumper from where is had hit another bumper...she was thrilled.  By the way...it was her 71st birthday on Sunday.

Now I'm working on getting Jim's desktop computer back into working condition...restoring it to factory condition...he got hit by a very bad virus on Tuesday afternoon.  But Russ and I are working on the bad bugs hopefully....still have one hidden in a root file.  Oh well...that's it for today.
