Up at 7 am...weight up a pound...135 lbs....ugh
Fixed us a lunch to take to school....did the trash and now
finishing this. It started to rain
during the night and has continued.....will be a wet morning.
We are both off to school at 9 am for a 10 am class on the
History of European Art...followed by another one World's Greatest
Paintings. We then have a break to eat
lunch and then go to the first of the Travel Presentations...around the world
in 90 minutes...this one is about traveling to Africa....We'll be done about 4
pm.
If I can get Jim to stay there is a computer one I want to
attend at 4:30 that goes until 6 pm....I will be amazed if he will stay for
that.
Left at 9 am...only coffee before leaving....found parking
in the lot right at the buildings...sprinkling but had stopped by 11 am....enjoyed the first class
that was a lecture (on a tape) "History
of European Art" about Louis XIV & Versailes, and French Art in the
18th Century.
11:30 am....we ate our lunch in the lunch room....Jim met several
people...some I already knew and other were new to me also. boiled egg, slice of hard cheese and slices
of ham. I'd also packed an apple and an
orange but we didn't eat those. Worked
on getting the wireless working on my new phone...but couldn't will have to get
some help at school from the Geeks.
12:30 pm... we went to a second art class (lecture on tape) about "the
world's greatest paintings":
Poussin, Claude, Chardin, Tiepolo & Gainsborough...also very
good. Jim really enjoyed them but he was
getting antsy...so he left and I stayed for the first part of the lecture on
Africa .... the first of the Travel series that I will be speaking at. This was a travel agent who specializes in
southern Africa tours. Normally it's a
member of OLLI that shares a trip. He
was very good but they had some problems with his computer...he'd brought an
apple laptop and the battery died...therefore the Mac presentation would not
work and they didn't have a computer available for him so he had to switch to
an commercial presentation that he had with him....I guess you'd say he had to
punt! They were about twenty minutes
late in starting.
Jim had gone windowshopping at several of the nearby stores and
then returned to pick me up at 3 pm. I
only saw about half of the presentation on Africa. Looks interesting but I still would not pick
that as my favorite place to go. We have
neighbors...Kathy & Harry Hughes, that are going in April to Africa. Their "tents" are like rooms...even
air conditioned. The speaker said the
lodgings are more like 4 star hotels and you have a chef fixing your
meals. Quite different from twenty years
ago when he started.
Shopped for food on the way home. A quick spoonful of peanut butter and then
we walked our 2 miles.
Dinner: salad: lettuce, tomato, carrots, cheese...for
dessert a 3 Musketeer Candy bar...opps...and then mixed nuts with a small glass
of "sweet tea"...over chipped ice.
Big Opps.
Read my book by my friend Trisha St. Andrew....finally
finished it by 1 am....really a good book with lots of twists and turns. Mini surprises right up to the last page!
Enjoyed reading about your day at school. Sounds like you had a full day. Am enjoying your book about the house in Dordogne am on page 2905 out of 3216 so moving right along. Did a lot of cooking & laundry today.... guess I need to blog so will finish on the blog.
