They arrived on Sunday afternoon and we had chicken tacos and salad for dinner...with wine...and went to St. Martin's Octoberfest for a shared funnel cake dessert. At the fair we saw Jenn & Kelly, Russ, Linda & Gail, Ben & Katie.
Monday morning Bonnie walked around the lake with us and then we drove to Downey to check on the door that needs to be replaced and around Fullerton... returned to Yorba Linda and went to Wholesome Choice where ate our large meal of the day! Bonnie & I did shopping at several stores after dropping the boys at the house ....we were looking for a TomTom to replace the one that was stolen from their luggage....decided the cheapest way was to order it online from Walmart when they get home. We had wine and cheese for dinner and went out on the boat for a ride around the lake.
Tuesday we headed up to Big Bear....cut the grass....then drove to Lake Arrowhead for lunch at the Belgium Restaurant...outside overlooking the lake....then we drove back to Redlands to find the mini brewery called Hanger 24 that is located in an old hanger at the Redland's Airport. We'd had a bottle with lunch and the owner had told us where to find it. After a glass of beer we headed to Jenn's to trade the Prius for the truck for a day. Then home to wine and cheeses!
Wednesday the boys headed to Downey with a stop at Home Depot to pick up the new door and it took them until 1 pm to get it hung and working properly.....Jim has been working on this project since before we left in June. The contractor Kelly found wanted $1300. to do the thing and the boys did it with a morning's work and a couple hundred dollars in materials. Bonnie & I walked to Von's while they were gone.
On the way home they picked up In & Out burgers that we ate at the house and then we headed for the movies to see the Money movie with Michael Douglas. Afterwards we stopped at Wholesome Choice to shop again and then home. We went up to Joaquins for margarita's and a shared plate of chips and cheese before going home....for more wine and cheese.
Thursday was our beach day. Jim walked the hills and Bonnie & I walked the lake while Jim got a haircut and then by 11 am we headed to the toll road. First to Dana Point and then to the fancy hotel that we'd visited with Bonnie & Bill on her first trip here in Laguna Beach. Then to Corona del Mar to drive around the views. Bonnie is learning to use the Flip Video Camera and she is going to sell the one that she purchased last spring and get one of these. We're going to download the film she is taking into her computer before she leaves so that she can learn how to edit and make movies on her computer.
From there we headed to Newport and The Crab Cooker restaurant for lunch...our main meal. Then we drove out to point to see the wave action....it was very quiet...we went there last April with Mary & Phil when there was lots of waves. We then went to find a Yacht Club that was on Terry's list from their club that will let us in. On the way we took time to wait for the ferry that crosses the bay to Balboa Island. At the Yacht Club we had a drink overlooking the harbor. Called Barbara to see if she was up for a visit and she had a mouth full of cotton...she'd had surgery on six teeth ... preparing them for implants so we didn't stop to visit.
We then drove to Orange and around the quaint streets ... looking for a mini brewery ... and then finally home. We called Westmorelands on the way home and they were waiting for us. We loaded the boat with wines, cheeses, strawberries (with powdered sugar & liquoir to dip them in) ... various nuts and crackers. Picked up Dave & Shari who added more nuts and grapes and another bottle of wine. We cruised the lake for several hours....had a fabulous rainbow...we could see both ends....the middle was covered with clouds....we had mountains covered in huge thunderhead clouds all day and rain in the south towards San Diego that kept moving north all day. But we always had sun overhead ... but the evening boat ride the clouds were overhead and we could only see clear skies in the west as the sun was setting. We ended the boat ride at Westmorelands so Terry could see their house and all of Dave's work in the three bathrooms. Shari has started making her Christmas cards and jewel boxes for gifts so we had fun seeing all of her handiwork before home to watch a bit of TV before we all went to bed to read our books.
Friday is here and we are open today...Jenn & Kelly are coming out tonight for a boat ride this evening. Bonnie & Terry just returned from walking up to Starbucks. Tomorrow they will be driving into Los Angeles to spend the day with Bill.
