I had a fun weekend...arrived about 10 am on Saturday. They were putting up Halloween decorations....neighborhood is very friendly and in to lots of decorations. They even have a roving "Boo Bag" that is secretly passed from house to house with a new goodie on each pass. Halloween night they all gather in the cul-de-sac for a neighborhood party. It was a nice move up for them...they could have afforded more but only moved to the middle of their range. They have 4 bedrooms...one is a large office with dual desks and a Murphy bed for guests. 2.5 baths, inside laundry room and a large family room. Fireplace in the living room and a dining room "L" off the living room. The kitchen is fantastic with granite counters and cabinets and more cabinets. They really want us to stay there when we come up.....Jim will have problems with the animals. But I'll try to get him to adjust. I think if they move the rug out of the office each time and just have the hard wood floors he'll be okay.
Half a block away is a wonderful bike trail along a baranca (water drainage) that goes for miles. Has ducks floating in it...goes from the bay on one end to Walnut Creek on the other. Great place to walk the dogs.
Jay & Holly asked me to set up a filing system in their new office that has two large filing drawers....Jay does bills and has a bad habit of sticking things into paper bags and then doing yearly sorting...but it been nearly two years since he had sorted out his bags. I set them up with a pendoflex "box" for each month...another for "bills to pay", "this years taxes", "need to file", etc. Then set up files for each of the houses, medical, insurance and so on. The biggest mess was their brokerage statements as they have eight different accounts with one company....but I finally got most of that sorted out. Then I put an A-Z pendoflexs in the bottom drawer and also some more wide bottomed ones for their different "Instruction Manuals" for the various things in the house. Given another couple of weeks I could have them all organized but I'm not going to have that amount of time with them ...
Refrigerator repair man was there fixing the freezer when I arrived ....was icing up....then on Sunday we discovered that the dishwasher wasn't getting any water. Figured out it was the "float" that keeps it from overflowing....it was missing...so no water....where oh where did it go....they said it had been working all last week. Bottom line they called and ordered a new one so I had another dishing job for the weekend....won't arrive for 2 weeks. $30. !!! A new house always has little problems at the beginning but Holly has a lot of trouble dealing with them.
Sunday we went to 10:45 am Mass and then it began to rain. Jay & Holly were working in the rain to fix the latch on a gate and the kids were going at each other so I took them to the local Casper's Hot Dogs and Tom, Lily & I ate lunch out. Afternoon went better.
Watched Brothers & Sisters and then to bed about 11 pm. The weather is much colder this week...I wore my heavy coat to Mass.
I arrived back in the city at Mary's about 10 am this morning ....heavy traffic but not too bad. I got tired of hearing the dogs bark so I left earlier than I'd planned. I could have let them into the house but then I'd have had to put them out again.
Everyone was alsleep when I arrived. I was able to get myself into the house without waking them. They have the heater on....a first for them...but with a baby one has to keep the house warmer. Mary is having a problem with a blocked milk duct....like a golf ball under her arm...the girls said she should take lots of warm showers to get the milk flowing. Tushar is very concerned and feels it's not getting better. ??? Mary said that it is smaller than yesterday... I'm not sure....never dealt with this as I didn't nurse.
Well...family is starting to wake up. Baby has been asleep for 4 hours so Mary is going to wake him up for a feeding and Tushar is going out to find his car...can't quite remember just where he parked it. I suggested he go for a walk .... exercise a bit ... and when he finds the car to move it closer.
Enough rambling for now....have a good day! I'm back in the city until later in the week. They have a class to go to tonight for Baptism and tomorrow is an appointment with the baby doctor. Tushar said they took shifts yesterday with the baby...he's learning that both parents don't have to do everything "TOGETHER"..... now we just have to get the doctor to convince him about the benefits of a pacifier. Hello!.....
