Up about 7:30 am and up about two pounds! We went to a Chinese Dinner last night...lots of salt in their food. It was a three hour dinner! Yes...three hours sitting at one table and eating, eating, eating...

Jack Wong is a docent at Bower's Museum...yes...he's American born but 100% Chinese. Never married...an engineer and now retired. He spends his days traveling...he takes small groups to China (everyone pays their own way) and elsewhere plus his own travels. Once or twice a year he invites a group of friends to dinner at a Chinese restaurant. The group last night were all docents at Bowers plus three spouses...me included....who are not docents.

The wine started to flow as soon as we arrived. We were a group of twelve in a private room at one table with a large, glass, lazy susan that never stopped moving for very long. The wine we later found out was about $60 a bottle....Raymond Generations from Napa Valley. Over the three hours I would venture to guess we consumed at least six bottles. Then the food began....one course after another for a total of about ten....the last one was lobster. I used my chopsticks throughout the meal....Jim asked for and used silverware....an option that most of us didn't use....and I was quite proud of myself that I did pretty good with them considering it's been a couple of years. Our final course was a mango pudding....

I can't imagine what the meal cost him but it was probably well over a thousand dollars at least....we had three waiters who were with us for the entire meal. But he has no children or grandchildren to spend his money on and what a wonderful way to entertain your friends.

Have posted my third journal on the China trip. It came up in the conversation last night and several of them asked for the link....so I acquired a few new readers. It will be interesting to see the numbers on Friday. Even though they seemed to have pulled my link from the newspaper, I still get results each Friday on the number of hits to my blogspot. At least I was still getting them as of last Friday.

Today I really am going to clean house...I've been putting it off each day. The gym is set for 3 pm and then I think I'll go to Josh's rollar hockey game in Corona. I think I'll try a day of liquids to see what happens to the extra pounds from last night.

The Golden Globes....Jim taped everything...we arrived home towards the end so I went directly to the tape and watched it by fast forwarding thru the commercials and speeches before I went to bed. Looks like Black, Swan, Social Network and King's Speech are the big winners along with our favorite Glee on TV. Watched the whole thing in less than an hour!
