Today my great-granddaughter Mikaela is two years old. A delightful child, quick and quite bright. Has been talking for six months and happy about the expected arrival of a baby brother in July. Andrea and Michael are doing a great job raising their daughter.
The last week has been almost entirely spent planning the second half of my trip this fall. Mary, Bonnie and Jane will join me in Paris on September 10th in a large studio apartment in the 15th arrondissement near the Eiffel Tower. There we will spend nine days and then move to another apartment near the Luxembourg Gardens in the 5th arrondissement for our last week in Paris. Those apartments we secured weeks ago; this week has been spent planning the Italy portion of our trip and it is still not finalized because Bonnie's friend Jane has an elderly mother who has created some issues. Hopefully we will iron out the difficulties soon and finalize those plans also.
Mary & I will be spending three days in Assisi during the feast of St. Francis of Assisi. Should be one of the highlights of our trip.
Tonight we go to the Lobster Fest, an annual fund raiser in Yorba Linda. A neighbor has secured a table and is celebrating his retirement by hosting a group of friends at this annual event. He talked his company into paying for this instead of the usual formal dinner for retirees. And since it's a charity...they can write it off.
A win-win for everyone.
Then tomorrow we head to Big Bear with a group of the kids to make the final move of furnishings before it closes escrow next week. Sad but good....
