November 13, 2012

Yes Mary...good to see you blog also.  Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip with your daughters...will be anxious to hear the stories.

Yesterday I started on the rewiring of the Christmas tree.  I worked for eight hours and managed to get all the lights off of the 8 branch, 2nd from bottom, level...there were 600 lights on that level.  Then I started on the bottom level that has 10 branches...have 7 of them done and have taken off 700 lights.....

I've only purchased 1500 to replace them...but I know that these are the two biggest....my plan is to only put 1/2 as many lights on the tree and these are also LED.  As Jim said...these lasted 15 years and the ones I put on will last the rest of our life so I guess it's worth the trouble.

We also went to a memorial service for our neighbor yesterday.  Only four of us from the neighborhood attended but the place for packed.  It was held in the school auditorium.  He was very quiet and never got to know the neighbors...a bachelor...he kept to himself.  But WOW...what an experience the memorial was.  He'd just retired from teaching two years ago.  A much loved teacher and impacted so many lives.  We sat for two and a half hours and listened to teachers and former students sing his praises.  Even the current principle of the high school was his student and credited him with personal success.  There were several attorneys who said his work with Mock Trials is what encouraged them to be lawyers.  Amazing.  We came away shaking our heads over the fact that we never really knew this man.

Travel safe today Mary...looking forward to your phone call.  Love Ya
