October 9, 2011

Well it's been an eventful couple of weeks. First to Indiana for our 55th high school reunion. Met twin Mary & Phil there and we stayed at the Trautman B&B....great friends. Phil borrowed his son's car so we had gratis transportation.

On first day, Friday, we drove to brother Joe's who had also offered us a car to use. Then to Wal-Mart to shop for supplies for the reunion posters. The rest of the morning was spent putting the posters together from material that I had sent from California. Hundreds of photos from high school that were used in the 50th Book and then additional photos from classmates. They were a great success and will be used again in 5 years with one new one for the memories of this year.

Had lunch on Friday with Trautman's at Zararaho's...completed redone and enlarged. Also toured the new commons.

Saturday was busy finishing the projects for reunion and at 1 pm we went into town for the Miller house tour. Before, we stopped by the old City Hall and the new owners gave us a tour when we told them our great grandfather was one of the builders. Miller house was very interesting...built when we were in high school....the house design, landscape and decorating were all by three famous people.

From there we headed home to change and then to the Elk's Lodge to put up the decorations and by 4:30 pm the first were arriving. Mary & Helen did the name tags, Linda sold Terry's book and I took photos of everyone as they arrive. It was a grand evening and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.

Sunday morning we attended Mass at St. Batholomew's and later all went to brunch at "The Hanger"... a very busy place with good food and small planes taking off regularly.

At 2 pm we drove to sister Shirley's house....Joe, grandson Tommy, Larry (Shirley's friend), and eventually Derek. We went to dinner...Shirley & Joe split the bill....at the Red Lobster. It was Joe's birthday and we celebrated with cake and ice cream back at the house before leaving just in time to see the old house....that is being torn down soon...and the cemetery.

Monday was planning day at the Trautman's for our April/May trip next year. Got the plan confirmed and did several of the hotels. We split up the hotels between us for reservations.
Terry BBQ delicious steaks for dinner. The Bender's spent the day with Phil's brother and wife.

Tuesday arrived and we all headed for the airport...Phil and Mary headed back to Florida and we flew to New York City.
